Eighteen 5th-8th grade students from schools in the CESA 11 region completed a 3-day Writing Scripts to Screen, including six gifted & talented students from St. Croix Central Middle School.
GT students learned from the talented filmmaker, Charis Collins, with the ultimate goal of filming and editing their short films created from their original stories. The final films needed to convey its message through camera angles and music (and no words). We ended the day with a Film Festival celebrating all the hard and amazing work.
Students involved: Brinlee M, Opal J, Dillon P, Lane G, Esme K, and Maci M.

On March 7th SCC Elementary hosted our first annual 3rd grade Wax Museum! The Wax Museum was a fun, interactive project where the students had read and researched a famous historical figure of their choice. Students then took what they had learned to create a life-like display to showcase their understanding. Each student memorized a short speech about their chosen character. Their speech included fun facts, contributions, and why they were significant in history. When community members walked through the museum, they activated the historical person by tapping their shoulder which brought the character "to life” and students delivered their speech. It was such a fun way to make history come alive! We are so proud of all of our 3rd graders!
