On May 11th, St. Croix Central High School students proudly demonstrated their hard work and community support at the Cedar Lake Speedway's annual Battle of the Buses, finishing in a remarkable second place.
The transformation process was a collaborative effort, with students stripping, repainting, and modifying the bus over six weeks. This project, part of their Ag Shop classes, not only highlighted their dedication but also showcased the strong support from families, friends, and local businesses. This support was crucial in helping the students successfully complete the bus and perform well in the race.
The event is a beloved community tradition where local schools compete in races that test both speed and durability of their modified buses. The impressive second-place finish and last years championship title by St. Croix Central High School's team was a testament to their hard work and the backing they received from the community.
On May 13th, following their impressive performance at the Cedar Lake Speedway's Battle of the Buses, students from St. Croix Central High School took the opportunity to visit their local sponsors to express their gratitude. The sponsors, who provided essential support and resources for the bus project, were integral to the students' success.
Throughout the project, local businesses such as, LH Dadsons Machining out of Hammond, WI and Wynveen Auto Body Inc. of Baldwin, WI played a crucial role by offering their expertise, tools, and financial backing. This community involvement was a key factor in the students' ability to transform a retired school bus into a competitive racing machine.
