XtraMath is an online math fact fluency program that helps students develop quick recall and automaticity of basic math facts.  Students with a strong foundation have greater confidence and success learning more advanced math like fractions and algebra.

Khan Academy is a great collection of learning videos for math topics organized by grade level. However, you can also search by specific topics. This is useful if you need more help, but no one at home can answer your questions.

Mashup Math boasts that you can learn any math topic in five minutes. To search these videos, use the small search bar to the right. Don’t mistake the YouTube search space as the search area for these videos.

Super Easy Math is another collection of short how-to videos on a variety of math topics. Use the small magnifying glass off to the right to search the collection for what you need.

For kids, Prodigy is a fun learning game that lets them explore virtual worlds, complete quests and battle friends to win exciting rewards while practicing math skills.

A visual perception game that is sometimes easy and sometimes frustrating. Be sure to click on “learn to play” on the right side. There is a new puzzle every day. This is one the whole family can enjoy!

SolveMe Mobiles has two options, to either play or build. Start with play and go through the practice mobiles where you fill in the blanks with numbers to balance the mobiles. It gets more challenging the farther along you go.

Use tangrams to create the figures along the bottom of the screen. Once you’ve mastered the basics, select animals for a new challenge. Think you’re really good? Try the advanced level of figures.

Select “practice” to begin. Choose the far left icon on each row for your first game. For this practice game, you are clicking the sum of two of the numbers that appear in each square. Once you feel confident, increase the difficulty and use the timer to challenge yourself.

First select the mode and then select the level. Identify and Simplify games consist of 3 hands. The objective is to identify 3 matching cards in each hand as quickly as possible. Compare and Calculate games consist of 5 hands. The objective is to choose the correct fraction out of 3 choices.

Many levels of play are available here from the absolute beginner to the somewhat experienced player. Chess strengthens critical thinking and improves decision-making and problem-solving skills, and it is also great fun! As with anything, the more you practice, the better you get, and the better you get, the more fun you have. And, of course, the more fun you have, the more you want to play!
